This tools is a free software that helps to understand what's going on with our website. It's a partner to Google Analytics. And it is more focused on technical side of our website. If Google want to send a message about our site, it will make contact via our Google Webmaster tools account (GWT).

Google Webmaster Tools and Verification Procedures

Google webmaster tools is a free service by Google for webmasters. Search console is a mok point which helps webmasters to communicate with Google. It will let you learn information about website and people who visit and allows webmasters to check indexing status and optimizing visibility. This process is important in search engine optimization.

Before, you can access any data on your site, you have to prove that you are an authorized representative of the site. And this is done through the process of verification. There are five main methods of verification currently. There is no real preference as to which method you use, Although the first two tend to be the most commonly used as they have been around for longer.

  • HTML file upload: Google provides a blank, specially named file that just have to drop in the root directory of our site.  Once we done that, just click on the verify button, and we will have access to our GWT data for this site. 
  • HTML tag: Clicking on this option, will provide a metatag that we can insert into the head of our home page. We must note an item using this method of verification is that, it's possible for the tag to be suddenly removed during an update to the home page. Which would lead to a revocation of the verification, but reinserting the tag and clicking verify again will fix that.
  • Domain Name Provider: Select our Domain Name Provider from the drop-down list and Google will give a step by step verification with a unique security token for use.
  • Google Analytics: If the Google account we are using for GWT is the same account as for GA, is an admin on the GA account, and we are using the asynchronous tracking code with, then we can verify the sites this way.
  • Google Tag Manager: This option allows, to use the Google Tag Manager to verify our site. 

Verifying the Website using Webmaster Tools


  • Search Google.com/webmaster/tool.
  • From the home screen, click on Add a property.
  • Copy the URL which you want to paste and fetch it in the text field appearing and click the Add button. 
  • Select crawl option from the left panel, then select fetch as Google. Here we requesting Google to fetch our page.
  • Above step, we asked Google to fetch base URL. Similarly, to fetch a post we need to copy the rest of the URL and paste it into the text field next, to the base URL and click fetch.  



About Search Console

This is a free service offered by Google that helps you, to maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot our site's presence in Google search results. Search Console helps to understand and improve how Google sees your site. 

Search Console offers reports and tools for the following actions:
  • We have to confirm that Google can find and crawl our site.
  • Manage indexing problems and request re-indexing of updated or new content.
  • View Google Search traffic data for our site,

Website Sections

There are two main sections in an website.
1)  Head section
2) Body section

Head section contain specific information. In this section title tag put inside the head tag. The title should consist of 55-60 characters. We can use keywords at the beginning of the title. Improper or nonexistent use of title in web pages keeps more websites out of top rankings on Google. Head section must be unique. Pixel width of the Head section is 512. Then it must be impressive.

Body section also contains specific information. Pixel width of the Body section is 1024. In this h1 is used for specifying heading, and this is the most important. hi being the largest one. This contain most of the unique content of a web page. Body section should not be longer. 

Meta Description

Meta description is a snippet. In this, we can use about 155 characters. Search engine shows the Meta description in search results mostly when the searched for phrase is within the description. So Meta description is important in On page optimization.

Content Optimization

It is the process of making sure content is written in a way that it can reach the largest possible target audience. Content should be short and simple. In this, must include associated keywords, meta and title tag, and relevant links. We should also optimize headlines for increasing CTR's and visual images for increasing user engagement. Content must include focusing keywords.

It is the number of times a keyword appears on a given web page within a ratio or percentage of the overall word count. In this avoid short term keywords. Use of commas, full stop in keywords result in relevant rankings. If we using Jquery or slides keyword must be effective.

Anchor Text Optimization

Anchor Text is a visible portion of an link that is displayed within our browser. Anchor Text Optimization is the one of the most important aspects of on-page and off-page optimization. Do not add Anchor Text in focusing keywords. It's boost up the Google to crawl well.  Google use Anchor Text to understand whether or not a particular website is relevant. 




Image Optimization

Image Optimization is the process of delivering the high quality images in the format, dimension, size and resolution while keeping the smallest possible size. Image Optimization can be done in different ways by, resizing the image, compressing or by caching the size. Caching is the snapshot of a web page that Google creates and stores after they have indexed a page. When page is indexed, they are categorized and filled within Google indexer's.


Indexing is the process of adding web pages into Google search. Google will crawl and index our pages.

Webmaster is a person who responsible for maintaining one or many websites. The title may refer to web architecture, web developers, site authors, website administrators, website owners, website coordinators, or website publishers.

Panda Update 2011

Google's Panda update, is a search filter introduced in February 2011. It is meant to stop sites with poor quality content from working their way into Google's top search results. It is one of the major update in Google. Panda is updated from time-to-time. Panda may also catch sites that escaped before. A refresh also means "false positive" might get released.

This update is  launched in April 2012. It is better catch sites deemed to be spamming its search results, in particular those doing so by buying links or obtaining them through link networks designed primarly to boost Google rankings.
        When Penguin Update is released, sites that have taken action to remove bad links or to remove spam may regain rankings. Penguin Update is against link spam.



Pigeon update 2014

Pigeon update launched in 2014 July 24th. It is a new algorithm to provide more useful, relevant and accurate local search results that are tied more closely to traditional web search ranking signals. Google stated that this is an new algorithm improves their distance and location ranking parameters.


Humming Bird Update

Google announced Humming bird on September 2013. Whereas previous algorithm updates like Panda and Penguin parked significant reporting of lost traffic and rankings, Humming bird did not appear to have drastic negative impacts on the general web. In order to fully understand the purpose of Humming bird, its important to be familiar with search engine features.It is based on semantic search results. Semantic search attempt to match appropriate SERP's results to the language of internet user's queries beyond the meanings of individual keywords.

It is a machine learning-based search engine algorithm.This was launched in October 2015. Rank brain Update, helps Google to process search results and provide more relevant search results for users. This update is the continuation of Humming bird.
